Bicarbonate Haemodialysis Concentrates
Bicarbonate Haemodialysis Concentrates
Overview
Haemodialysis concentrate is a product intended to be mixed with water to prepare a solution with an electrolyte composition similar to that of blood (i.e., a dialysate) for the exchange of solutes with blood through a semi-permeable membrane in the dialyser of a haemodialysis system. It is intended to remove metabolic waste from the blood to help maintain physiological blood electrolyte and pH levels.
The product is supplied as dry powder, including dry acid concentrate and bicarbonate concentrate.
The use of semipermeable membrane principle, through diffusion and convection in various harmful and unnecessary metabolic waste and excessive electrolyte removed from the body, achieve the purpose of purifying the blood, and to correct water-electrolyte and acid-base balance of purpose.
Intended use
The product is intended to be mixed with water to prepare a solution with an electrolyte composition similar to that of blood (i.e., a dialysate) for the exchange of solutes with blood through a semi-permeable membrane in the dialyser of a haemodialysis system. It is intended to remove metabolic waste from the blood to help maintain physiological blood electrolyte and pH levels.
The product includes salts of the following constituents: sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, chloride, and anions of weak acids [e.g., bicarbonate (HCO3), acetate, citrate].
After application, this device cannot be reused.
Indications:
The device is indicated in the treatment of acute and chronic renal failure during the haemodialysis procedure.
Contraindication
There are no absolute contraindications for bicarbonate dialysis. The haemodialysis concentrate must be used only on the direction of a physician who has evaluated all the pertinent features of the product in relation to the individual patient.

Advantages of the LundaBik Dry Powder B-Cartridge 700g
- Two caps come with the LundaBik cartridge. The caps protect the connectors during transportation
- During the treatment session the caps can be placed on the two cap indentations on the top of the cartridge. See image for caps (A) and (B)
- By placing them back on to the top and bottom connectors after
a treatment session, spillage and dripping is avoided - Top and bottom filters prevent bicarbonate particles from exiting the
cartridge - The LundaBik B-Cartridge is a sodium bicarbonate concentrate in a
polypropylene (PP) sealed unit. When attached to the holder, water passes through the LundaBik cartridge, producing a saturated bicarbonate solution, ready for single patient use - The cartridge contains dry sodium bicarbonate which enables on-line
preparation of a liquid sodium bicarbonate solution used in a bicarbonate based dialysis fluid. When the cartridge is attached to the special holder, water is drawn by the dialysis machine through the cartridge, producing a saturated - The LundaBik B-Cartridge, if rinsed clean, is recyclable depending on your facility and local waste management provider’s acceptance of polypropylene
- Our LundaBik B-Cartridge is compatible with dialysis machines with three stream proportioning bicarbonate systems when set to proportion 1 part acid to 34 parts bicarbonate concentrate and water

The LundaBik B-Bag is a sodium bicarbonate concentrate in a polyamide
polyethylene (PA/PE) sealed unit. When hung on the connector nozzle, water
passes through the LundaBik bag, producing a saturated bicarbonate solution, ready for single patient use.
Our bicarbonate LundaBik B-bag is made from polyamide and polyethylene (PA/PE) materials containing dry sodium bicarbonate which enables on line preparation of a liquid sodium bicarbonate solution used in a bicarbonate based dialysis fluid.
When the bag is attached to the holder, water is drawn by the dialysis machine through the bag, producing a saturated solution of sodium bicarbonate. The dialysis machine mixes the sodium bicarbonate solution with water and the acid concentrate to produce a bicarbonate based dialysis fluid.
Our LundaBik B-Bag is compatible with machines equipped with the appropriate connector. For use only with dialysis machines with three-stream proportioning bicarbonate systems when set to proportion 1 part acid to 34 parts bicarbonate concentrate and water.
